Cupping is a technique that has been practiced by a variety cultures over the course of thousands of years. Rather that applying pressure as with a therapeutic massage, this process intends to pull the pressure out. For added benefit, our therapists specializing in this technique can also use “movement cupping,” which allows for the process to be similar to massage, in that they’re gliding the cups over tight muscles that may have had trouble loosening with just a traditional hands-on massage. Cupping technique helps to promote blood flow, decrease muscle pain and tension, improve lymph flow. It can also be beneficial for breaking up scar tissue and has been known to treat conditions such as high blood pressure, migraines, skin disorders, and anxiety.
